The hair bun challenge occurred during the shoot. Talent was shot on green screen using a back plate. However, the VFX compositing of the original hair bun was not 3D enough to produce a convincing shot. To accommodate the close-up shots, a CGI groomed hair bun was created.
Initial experiments were developed to determine the viability of the projected VFX shot. This involved placing tracking marks on the shoulder and face. The marks made it easier to pin a figure sitting on the shoulder. A portion of the talent's head can also break off, revealing a mini-person living inside.
